Great Blue Heron

The Great Blue Heron is a common sight along the shorelines and inland ponds of the San Juan Islands. It is the largest of the herons and quite vocal. It hunts for fish, frogs and other small animals while wading stealthily in the quiet waters. Photo by Stephan O.Fjelstad.
