Spotted Coralroot
(Corallorhiza maculata)

The coral-like rhizomes of this saprophytic orchid contains a symbiotic fungi that helps the plant to receive its nutriants. It does not produce chlorophyll and thus does not have green leaves. It blooms from May to July and is found under the dark canopy of the forest. Photo by Richard Wright.
